Zum

Personal service was an important component of his business, so he wanted to be accessible to all clients, and to have trainers able to move easily between equipment stations with their clients. Flexibility in the spaces was important to allow for ever-changing exercise programs.

Design Concept:
Eclectic (historical/innovative), movement, balance, flexibility, activity, masculinity/femininity and efficiency.

Design Solution:
The demand for efficiency in programmatic adjacencies created by the tight space was very challenging. The design was entered on axis of the space, directly into the main lobby/check-in, down an axial corridor with lockers/showers on one side and classrooms, therapy room, and stairs up to private/quite areas (offices, break room, yoga/ meditation room) on the other. The massage room was located between the men's and women's lockers rooms to provide access from within the respective locker rooms.
